mah fella americuns, this is why people hate you and the 39th game idea

Having little to do with the 39th game of course but...

On Scarves and Fan Loyalty
Some guy's girlfriend knitted him a scarf and it was Red and White which he is associating with Arsenal.

When I first started following the Premier League last season, I chose Reading, because they were getting into the Premier League for the very first time, just like I was, and they seemed like just the sort of plucky underdog worth backing. However, Reading has dropped into the relegation zone this month, and after seeing their dire form lately, I’m starting to wonder if I’m going to have a Premier League club to support next August.

All the while, this red and white scarf seems to be calling out to me. “Come join us, neophyte. Leave your little underdogs behind. Do you really want a life full of relegation battles and Coca-Cola Championship playoffs? Of course, you don’t. Come root for a real winner.”

You know at the end of last season before Frank bought City and Sven came in, my exact line of thought was "hmm well I guess if City get relegated next year I'm moving back to Manchester". Not out of hyperbole or anything else and I was dead serious. 1) I needed to be there to support my club again and 2) hoping for an FA Cup match to catch on television just wasn't going to do.

I do not understand what goes into "picking" a team to root for nor giving that team up because they suck. I don't think I ever will

Sky Sports and Rafa Benetiz join forces to bring teh lulz

Benitez - Europe is simpler
Reds boss finds Premier League tougher than Champions League

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has admitted that he finds Premier League fixtures more problematic than UEFA Champions League encounters.

Oh Rafa ^_^.

I laughed so violently when I read this at work I almost got fired.

League 2 -- cooler than you.

This from the Offside

40 oil drums were scattered across the playing surface as fans and groundstaff burned wood and coal in a valiant attempt to soften up the playing surface so the game against Notts County could go ahead.

The game still had to be postponed though.

How fantastic is that? Proper northern inititive! This is why Rochdale is one of my favorite towns, everyone is so fucking cool. It's a shame that you almost die going from the train station to where all the shops are because of an oddly placed roundabout.

Champions' League

I only caught the second half of two champions' league matches yesterday.

Olypiacos v Chelsea -- YAWNNNNNN There were so few chances during this game, that at one point I just stopped watching it and only looked when the Chelsea fan sat accross from me made some sort of reaction. That barely happened.

Liverpool v Inter -- A lot of people are giving Liverpool a lot of credit today. The truth of the matter is they still have one tactic and have done for the past couple yester: "Wait til the 89th minute when Stevie G will knick us something after running around like an idiot". Of course they'll win the European cup.

Who Ate All the Pies has a rundown on who should be kept and who chucked at Liverpool over the summer. I agree 99% (I think Masch is a lot better than Anderson for example)

I wish I watched Roma that looked like a good match.

It had to happen sometime

BBC NEWS | UK | Chelsea boss sent death threats
Anti-Semitic death threats have been sent to Chelsea football boss Avram Grant, in a package containing a mysterious powder, police said.

When you've got a club with historic anti-semetic, yob support, no matter how jewish the money is that's bought the club 2 titles, the true colours have to come out.

It's a fucking shame.
