RIP Chips AKA FootieNeighbor

Chips at Tir Na Nog

This morning, I was in the shower thinking about my new year's resolution to post in this blog more (more on this prolly tomorrow) and what my first post of the year should be, and I really hoped it would be something different than this

Chips my neighbor, whom I've mentioned from time to time as FootieNeighbor passed away yesterday morning. He was an avid die-hard Chelsea fan for decades and a fantastic American Ambassador to the sport. In fact we met on the train coming back from watching matches at our respective locals and got to talking because of Football. His enthusiasm for the beautiful game was infectious and I know he's converted people into football fans.

He's been sick for a couple weeks and has dragged himself out to the pub to see his beloved Chelsea over the Christmas Season despite being rather ill. We found out he passed after today's Chelsea match which we were supposed to be watching with him. We had a toast of Tullamore Dew in his honor He was Episcopalian and always made fun of us Papists and our affection for Celtic despite not really giving a fuck about Scottish Football--so of course a Catholic Whiskey was appropriate.

Chips loved this blog (and god I don't have any idea why) and always complained that I didn't update it enough, so for him I will update more often and make sure I stick to my New Year's Resolution.

So sorry to hear about Chips' passing. He sounded like a great guy. Please pass on my condolences from a fellow football fan in the UK.
